Can standardized use of a pure hypochlorous acid-preserved cleanser (pHA) improve outcomes?

Originally from Cleveland, Dr. Neil Kundu completed a 6-year accelerated combined BS/MD in his home state of Ohio. He holds undergraduate degrees from Youngstown State University in Biology and Chemistry with dual minors in Psychology and Developmental Psychology, graduating with honors. He then completed his medical education at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

Dr. Kundu completed both his General Surgery Residency and Plastic Surgery Fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic. During this time, he was elected administrative chief resident in both programs, obtained an academic appointment at the Lerner College of Medicine/Case Western Reserve School of Medicine as a Clinical Instructor of Anatomy, was a member of the face and abdominal wall transplantation teams, and was voted as the Cleveland Clinic Department of Plastic Surgery Resident of the Year in 2014.

Dr. Kundu is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is the Chief of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, as well as Director of Microvascular Reconstruction at Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has more than 20 peer reviewed publications, including the award for Trunk Reconstruction Paper of the Year in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has co-edited a textbook on the treatment of cutaneous malignancies for surgeons and has had his work presented both nationally and internationally.

Ms. Couch graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing (FNP) from Georgetown University in 2002.Currently, she works as the Director of Wound Care Services at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is an Associate Research Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at George Washington University. Her wound care interests include caring for persons with limb loss/limb differences, complex abdominal wounds, and use of technology in wound healing.

Ms.Couch is the current nurse board member of the Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders and the President-Elect of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC). Kara is a Fellow of the Association of the Advancement of Wound Care. She is an editorial board member of Wound Management and Prevention, Today’s Wound Clinic, Wound Masterclass, and WoundSource 2022. Kara is the Co-Chair of the Wound Care Community for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Prophylactic Dressing Standards Initiative, a joint collaboration between the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel and European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. Kara is the Chair of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee (SciMAC) of the Amputee Coalition.
