Recommendations for Wounds After Flaps and Grafts

Dr. Desvigne will present practical examples and case studies regarding the treatment of flaps and grafts after procedures, such as metatarsal amputation and the treatment of non-healing wounds.

In this presentation, Dr. Desvigne will:

  • Define surgical flaps and skin grafts
  • Describe indications for flaps and grafts to help expedite healing in patients with chronic wounds
  • Discuss appropriateness of surgical consultation for wound closure
  • Detail why not all patients are candidates for surgical intervention
  • Explain that patients who undergo surgical management of chronic wounds are at high risk for complications
  • Show how patients who are high risk surgical candidates may benefit from post surgical wound care to help heal residual wounds
  • Examine how wound management does not stop once surgery is performed

This is a non-CME event.
